  • Plump lip volume and remove wrinkles in the surrounding skin; reduce mouth lines.

Areas We Inject Dermal Fillers:

What Is Hyaluronic Acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-present substance in the human body that supports skin stability and renewal. Hyaluronic acid or “HA” retains up to 1,000 times its weight in water to improve skin hydration, collagen production, and elasticity. Not only do we synthesize one-third of the hyaluronic acid made each day, but our bodies produce less of it as we age. Using a hyaluronic acid serum is one way to help rejuvenate and moisturize the skin at the surface. However, it is also widely used by the makers of today’s most popular filler products as a means to achieve volume replacement, wrinkle reduction, and a healthy lift of the skin.

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, we believe that a natural-looking outcome is the best kind when it comes to any cosmetic filler procedure. To that end, we use the most trusted products and employ the most advanced techniques in the industry.

"Is it any surprise that Dr. Jagwani is on the cover of D Magazine? Absolutely not! She is amazing at what she does and falls nothing short of the best. She had such a delicate and precise hand for my filler that I didn’t feel any pain with the numbing (whereas I’ve had pain with other doctors even with numbing). She ensured that my lips looked full, yet natural by enhancing my lip shape. I love this practice and Dr. Jagwani!" - Vanessa

"I went to Dr. Dickson for tear trough filler and could not be happier with my results. I was nervous to get filler so close to my eyes but Dr. Lauren put me at ease and answered all of my questions. The procedure was quick, easy and I will absolutely be going back." - Shayna

"I got got my filler done for the first time and let me just say she [Dr. Dickson] has such a gentle hand and walked me through the process, not only did she make my lips look FABULOUS with no bruising!" - Kimberly

"I recently relocated to the area from DC. I was attached to my amazing derm in DC but went to see Dr. Dickson today and she was amazing! She recommended some great things cosmetically I wouldn’t have thought of and she did a beautiful job on my filler.  She listened to my requests and offered her insight.  She has a great bedside manner and was very friendly. Thank you Dr. Dickson! I highly recommend her" - Katey

Dermal Fillers: Before & After

Cosmetic Fillers We Offer

JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® are two of the most popular families of products available today. Both use Hyaluronic Acid as their active ingredient. The treatment area and your unique skin and facial structure weigh heavily when deciding which product is best for you. Each line offers a different texture that works better for some than others. We will discuss your desired result with regard to each type of product we use to make sure that you are confident with our carefully considered recommendations.

JUVÉDERM® Filler Treatment

The family of JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel Fillers includes:

  • JUVÉDERM® XC
  • JUVÉDERM® VOLLURE™ XC
  • JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC
  • JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA™ XC
  • JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA™ XC

Generally speaking, JUVÉDERM® has a smooth texture, making it ideal for correcting fine lines and wrinkles in tight facial areas. Each product in this line has its own approved uses and is intended to target a specific treatment area, whether it be to enhance cheek volume, fill lip and mouth lines, or plump the area behind the nasolabial folds. Other considerations include the degree to which skin appears wrinkled and age.

Restylane® Filler Treatment

Restylane®, though similar to JUVÉDERM® in many ways, varies slightly with regard to its texture. With its granular and more cohesive consistency, Restylane® products are made to add volume where facial areas have a more sunken appearance. Unlike its popular alternative, visible results may be delayed up to 48 hours.

The Restylane® family of products includes:

  • Restylane®
  • Restylane-L®
  • Restylane® Defyne
  • Restylane® Refyne
  • Restylane® Silk
  • Restylane® Lyft with Lidocaine
  • Restylane® Kysse

Like Juvederm, Restylane has its approved uses depending on the degree of correction, depth of injection, and treatment location.

Typical Fillers Procedure

A typical dermal fillers procedure follows these steps:

  1. A board-certified doctor assesses your facial appearance and skin tone. Your concerns are shared with your doctor and your doctor will formulate a personalized filler treatment plan for you. Photographs may be taken of the treatment areas to include in your office file.
  2. The sites are cleansed with an antibacterial agent and an anesthetic topical ointment may be applied.
  3. The filler is injected, massaged, and evaluated by your dermatologist. Additional filler may be added as desired.
  4. An ice pack is offered to minimize swelling and alleviate discomfort.

The whole process may be done in as little as 15 minutes, though more time may be needed for those seeking multiple treatment areas. Most clients do not require medication.

Cosmetic Injectable Filler FAQs

Scheduling a private, one-on-one consultation with a member of our team is the best way to have all your questions answered, but here are some basic answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our fillers, treatments, and procedures.

Injectable dermal fillers are gel-like substances composed of hyaluronic acid injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines, soften creases, and provide facial contouring without the downtime associated with surgery.

There is little to no downtime with fillers. There is a risk for post-procedure bruising, which is higher in areas such as the eyes, where there is a high density of vessels and delicate tissue.

For 14 days before your procedure, avoid the following:

  • Omega-3 fatty acids
  • Fish oil, Aspirin
  • NSAIDs (including Advil, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve)
  • Vitamin E
  • Ginseng
  • Ginger
  • Gingko Biloba
  • Garlic
  • Green Tea
  • Alcohol
  • Salt
  • Avoid dental work, including routine teeth cleaning, one month before and one month after treatment with fillers.

Most likely, the answer is yes. Facelifts achieve a lifting and tightening effect. However, it does not replace the volume that has been lost. As we age, we lose volume in our face, which should be subtly replaced during rejuvenation to achieve the most harmonious results.

Depending on the location, the type of filler, and your body’s resorption ability, dermal fillers can last anywhere from six months to two years.

After injections with fillers, common side effects may include temporary swelling, bruising, redness, or soreness at the treatment site. To reduce or minimize discomfort, we recommend applying ice-packs or cold compresses to the injection sites for at least 15 minutes immediately after treatment (with continuation every hour if you are prone to bruising).

While regular activity can be resumed immediately after injections, rigorous exercise should be avoided for the remainder of the day to reduce the risk of swelling and bruising. If you have filler treatment of the tear trough, avoid anything that puts pressure on the area (like wearing goggles, massages, scuba diving) for one month. It is best to sleep on your back for one week following your procedure. Avoid sleeping on your side for 2-3 days, if possible.

"Dr. Rubenstein did an amazing job on my lip filler! It was my first time and she made me feel very comfortable and she was very sweet. I highly recommend her!!" - Karina

"All of the doctors are amazing!!! Especially Dr. Dickson! She’s so amazing at not only in general dermatology but also in cosmetics and she is all about the natural look which I absolutely love! Definitely recommend! You won’t be disappointed!" - Sabrina

"I have also been the last couple of years for Botox and fillers. My favorite thing is Dr. Jagwani is a perfectionist and won’t over do it. I hands down recommend Dallas Dermatology Partners to anyone and everyone." - Erica

Bruising is not uncommon and sometimes unavoidable due to the skin’s numerous micro-vessels, particularly around the eyes. You may carefully apply makeup (stick foundations and concealers work best) to camouflage bruising. Injection point bruises can be improved by using organic apple cider vinegar with a cotton tip applicator. You can take oral arnica or rub arnica on the bruise several times a day. Large or dark bruises that cannot be minimized can be treated with a vascular laser within 1-2 days after treatment. Call our office to schedule an appointment.

Call the office immediately if you experience intense pain in the injected areas, severe bruising that is getting worse, or experience visual disturbances.

It generally takes 1-2 weeks to determine your clinical response to treatment. If it is your first treatment, it is advised that a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks to ensure your satisfaction.
