Laser Resurfacing

Improving the appearance of acne scars, sun damage, and wrinkles with minimal downtime is possible with laser resurfacing at Dallas Dermatology Partners. Our practice utilizes the Halo Laser -- one of the leading lasers that combine both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. This laser works by heating tiny columns of targeted tissue while keeping the epidermis intact. This process stimulates collagen production to help rejuvenate the skin from the inside out over the following weeks.

Halo Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Lasers like the Halo carry less risk of complications and allow you to return to normal activities immediately. The safety and easy recovery of this laser skin resurfacing treatment appeal to our patient’s busy lifestyles.  Moderate lines, mild skin laxity, and acne scars can be addressed by our laser resurfacing treatment. We always tailor your procedure to address your concerns.

Our "Lunchtime Glow" laser resurfacing treatment offers a lighter yet effective treatment that addresses fine lines, improves texture, and provides tightening with no downtime.  It is often recommended as an initial series of three spaced one month apart followed treatments every 3-6 weeks to maintain collagen stimulation.

Since the Halo delivers thermal energy for faster healing, the treatments are suitable for all skin types—including patients with darker skin tones. In the hands of an experienced, board-certified dermatologist, laser resurfacing is an excellent way to improve skin tone, texture, and photo-damage.

How many laser resurfacing treatments will I need?

Since the Halo Laser is less invasive than many ablative lasers, most patients will see an improvement in two to five treatments. However, it’s possible to see the benefits in just one session. Certain conditions, such as deep acne scars, may require additional sessions for the best results. Treatments should be spaced three to six weeks apart.

What conditions does the Halo Laser treat?

It is approved to treat shallower acne scars, pigment irregularities including dark spots and hyperpigmentation, rough texture, post-surgical and trauma scars, fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet, stretch marks, large pores, and mild skin laxity.

Is laser skin resurfacing painful?

The Halo laser has a built-in cooling tip in the handpiece to minimize any discomfort. A topical numbing cream may be applied first, and most patients describe the experience as a mild “rubber-band snap” sensation.

How long does the procedure take?

On average, laser resurfacing treatment on the face takes between 30-45 minutes.

What type of result does laser rejuvenation provide?

As damaged tissue sloughs off and collagen remodeling occurs, you will see improvements in skin clarity, tone, and texture over the following weeks, with further improvements up to three months after the final treatment.

What areas of the body can be treated?

This skin resurfacing treatment can be safely performed on the face, neck, chest, arms, back, abdomen, and legs. Our dermatologists will control the depth of laser penetration depending on skin thickness and issues being treated.

What should I expect right after the laser treatment?  Is there downtime?

Temporary redness is normal. The skin will be pink and slightly swollen for a day or two, feeling similar to a sunburn. Aftercare is easy and consists of skin hydrating products and sun avoidance.

For the "Lunchtime Glow" laser resurfacing procedure, there is mild pink coloration to the skin and slight puffiness for less than one day.

For regular non-ablative laser resurfacing, there is about 1-2 days of mild pink coloration to the skin and slight puffiness.

When is the best time to get laser treatments?

We generally encourage patients to avoid laser resurfacing during the summer months since post-treatment skin is more UV sensitive and must be protected. Regardless of the time of year, patients should avoid direct sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen to maintain results.

How much does laser skin resurfacing cost?

The cost of laser resurfacing with the Halo laser depends on a variety of factors, including the skin conditions and size of the area being treated.  Please book a complimentary consultation with our aesthetician for pricing.
