Can Dysport Lift Your Eyebrows?

Yes, Dysport can effectively lift your eyebrows to turn your dream aesthetic into a reality. When injected strategically, Dysport helps relax the muscles that pull the eyebrows downward, which allows the muscles that lift the eyebrows to work without opposition. This gives the eyebrows a slightly lifted appearance, creating a subtle, rejuvenated look.

Before scheduling an appointment for Dysport in Dallas, it’s essential to consult with a qualified dermatologist to determine the best treatment for your specific concerns. Here’s everything you need to know to achieve a youthful, natural look with Dysport.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a brand name for a form of botulinum toxin Type A, a neurotoxin that temporarily paralyzes muscles and is commonly used for cosmetic purposes to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Dysport works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles where it’s injected, which causes temporary muscle relaxation.

Although Dysport is often used to smooth out frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles, it can also be injected to lift the eyebrows. By temporarily relaxing your muscles, Dysport can create a smoother and more youthful appearance. The effects of Dysport are temporary and typically last three to four months depending on your specific treatment area.

How Do Nonsurgical Brow Lifts Work with Dysport?

Nonsurgical brow lifts using Botox or Dysport involve injecting botulinum toxin Type A into specific muscles around the eyebrows and forehead. These injections help relax the muscles that pull the eyebrows downward, allowing the muscles that lift the eyebrows to work more effectively.

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, our experienced team will tailor your treatment based on your unique facial anatomy and desired outcome. After assessing your facial muscles, your dermatologist will determine the best injection points to achieve the desired brow lift while maintaining a natural look.

Unlike surgical brow lifts, Dysport injections allow for subtle and gradual changes. By relaxing specific muscles, you’ll achieve a gentle lift while avoiding the risk of an overly dramatic or surprised look, often associated with surgical brow lifts. This subtle improvement enhances your overall facial expression without drastically altering your appearance.

What Should You Expect After a Dysport Brow Lift?

After your Dysport appointment, you might experience mild discomfort, redness, or swelling at the injection sites. These symptoms are usually temporary and should subside within a few hours to a couple of days.

Fortunately, you’ll experience little to no downtime after getting injectables in Dallas. You’ll be able to resume your normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, it’s recommended to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat or sun exposure, and alcohol consumption for the rest of the day.

You’ll start to notice subtle changes in your eyebrows within a few days, although the full effects of Dysport usually become apparent within 1-2 weeks. To maintain your brow lift, you’ll need follow-up Dysport injections. The frequency of touch-up treatments will depend on various factors, including your response to the treatment.

What Are the Benefits of Jawline Fillers for Men?

In the hands of a skilled dermatologist, well-placed jawline fillers can enhance the natural bone structure of your face to create a more streamlined, well-structured look. This helps create the highly desired “chiseled” jawline.

There is no universal age at which men might consider getting an injectable filler. Rather, the right time to look into fillers for men is determined by your aesthetic concerns and goals.

Contact a dermatologist to discuss jawline fillers if you would like to:

  • Achieve a strong, chiseled jawline
  • Enhance the structure of your chin to accentuate a square-looking jawline
  • Address the look of age-related volume loss in the area
  • Reduce the focus on a double chin
  • Create a more aesthetically pleasing frame for your face
  • Address a slim, weak, or narrow jawline

Jawline fillers will empower you to love the way you look, and in turn, the way you feel about yourself. There is so much power in feeling confident in your skin, and that confidence will radiate from you onto the people around you. Whether you’re looking for a new job or going on dates, jawline fillers will help you become the best version of you.

What Types of Jawline Fillers Are Available?

There are a number of injectable fillers available that can be used along the jawline. They are all FDA-approved.

Depending on your cosmetic goals, your clinician may recommend one of the following:

What to Expect From Your Dermatology Appointment

When you arrive at the dermatology clinic, you can expect to fill out some health forms. Be sure to disclose your full medical history, including whether you’ve previously experienced any allergic reactions. Although injectables have a strong safety profile, it’s always best to proceed with an abundance of caution.

The dermatologist will spend some time discussing your goals for your appearance and explaining your filler options. Once you and your clinician have identified an appropriate filler for you, the treatment areas will be cleansed and numbed.

The injections themselves take very little time to complete. You may feel a pinch and you may experience some minor bruising and swelling, but it will subside quickly. You can return to your usual activities right away.

Lift Your Face with Temple Fillers

Wrinkles, loss of skin tone, and facial sagging are inevitable parts of growing older. But if you aren’t yet ready to look your age, you certainly don’t have to.

There are plenty of aesthetic treatments that can allow you to camouflage your age and even look more energized and refreshed. One such option is temple fillers—an injectable placed in the temples to provide a lift to the upper face and eye area.

What Exactly are Temple Fillers?

A temple filler is a dermal filler injectable that is placed in the temples. There are many types of dermal fillers, including those comprised of hyaluronic acid.

Temple dermal fillers plump up the area, rejuvenating one’s appearance and reducing the signs of aging. It only takes a few minutes to place the temple fillers in position, and there is no downtime required.

Sculptra to Temples and Lateral Face by Dr. Dickson

Why Consider Getting Temple Fillers?

You may already know that dermal fillers are a popular option for reducing the signs of aging elsewhere in the face— such as the cheeks, jawline, under-eye hollows, and lips. Now, temple fillers are becoming increasingly popular because they can create results similar to an upper face or eye lift, but without the need for surgery.

The temples might not receive as much attention as other areas of the face, but they do play a deceptively significant role in the overall shape and contour of your face. When they are full, as in youth, the temples help create better balance for your facial proportions.

The aging process creates many changes, including the loss of volume in various areas of the face like the temples. Age-related changes in the bone, soft tissues, and connective tissues mean that there is less structural support in the area, leading to loss of volume and the appearance of wrinkles and folds.

Your temples are one of the areas that show the earliest signs of aging and volume loss and can start as early as the mid-20s. If you’ve noticed that your temples are starting to look sunken or hollowed out, it may be time to consider getting dermal fillers in the area.

What Can Temple Fillers Accomplish?

If your temples are affected by the loss of structural support, dermal fillers can plump up the area to provide better support to the tissues and skin. Temple fillers can restore a more youthful contour and shape to your face.

The benefits of temple fillers can include:

  • Restored volume in the temple area
  • Reduced appearance of lines and wrinkles around the temples, eyes, and forehead areas
  • Stimulates collagen production for better skin firmness

Dermal fillers can be long-lasting, but their effects aren’t permanent. The duration of your results will depend on the type of filler used for your treatment and your unique response to it. To maintain your results, you can schedule ongoing touch-up appointments.

What Fillers Are Most Common For Men?

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, the most popular fillers for men are chin, jawline, and cheek injections. Dermal filler injections with products like Restylane and Juvederm are a safe and effective way to reshape facial features and reverse the effects of age, gravity, and sun damage. Composed of a gel-like substance, facial fillers add volume to soften creases and can be artfully injected to contour the jawline and chin for a more masculine and angular profile.

1. Jawline Contouring

Carefully injected filler along the lateral jawline can provide a more chiseled profile. Men can benefit from this lunch-hour treatment. Jawline filler serves several purposes. It can create a stronger, square-looking profile, balance an asymmetrical jaw, and reduce the appearance of jowls.

2. Reshape and Augment the Chin

Fillers can also create facial harmony and balance by adding subtle projection to the chin. In addition, they enhance natural bone structure to create a strong profile that exudes authority and confidence. Fillers can also fill in a cleft and create a better definition between the neck and face.

3. Restore Volume to the Midface

Collagen and elastin levels decline with age, and this volume loss is particularly evident in the midface. Men can achieve a more youthful look by having fillers injected in the cheeks, temples, and under-eye area. Fillers can plump up hollow temples, lift and sculpt cheeks and improve the appearance of tired and sunken eyes.

4. Smooth Fine Lines & Wrinkles

Dermal fillers are an excellent, non-surgical way to combat the inevitable signs of aging, like deeper nasolabial folds and lines that form with repetitive facial expressions. Results are almost immediate, with continued improvements in texture and volume for up to 12 months.

5. Nose Reshaping

Facial filler can disguise nasal humps, add projection to the nasal tip and even create a straighter-looking nasal bridge.

6. Combining Fillers with Other Injectables

Many of our patients benefit from combining dermal filler with other cosmetic treatments for men. For example, Botox injections prevent muscle contractions that cause wrinkles and can erase forehead lines and deep furrows between the brows. Injections are virtually painless, and the results generally last up to 4 months.

Fantastic yet natural-looking results can be achieved with a Botox and filler combination during your Dallas dermatology appointment.

Is Sculptra a Liquid Facelift? How Long Does It Last?

Cosmetic injectables have transformed the landscape of anti-aging skincare. Dermal fillers make it possible to turn back the clock by addressing volume loss, smoothing out deep folds, and adding contour and definition where needed. Sculptra is the injectable of choice for many dermatologists when it comes to full facial rejuvenation.

In our practice at Dallas Dermatology Partners, Sculptra has been dubbed the liquid facelift because it does something other fillers don’t– triggers the body’s own collagen synthesis. This is important if you’re over 30 because collagen levels decline every year. It provides the structural framework beneath the skin and keeps us looking youthful and fresh.

Does Sculptra Lift the face?

Yes, Sculptra lifts the face by replenishing volume and kick-starting collagen production for supple and elastic skin. Each Sculptra treatment is designed to correct deep facial folds, wrinkles, creases, and sagging contours. Does a Sculptra facelift offer comparable results to a surgical facelift? Not exactly. The two procedures address different concerns.

A surgical facelift removes excess skin but does not restore volume to the nasolabial folds, temples, cheeks, or tear troughs. Sculptra does not correct skin laxity. Instead, it gives natural-looking volume where fat has been lost. In addition, it has the added bonus of improving skin texture and fine lines, unlike a surgical facelift.

Although there is a small degree of residual plumping after Sculptra injections, major improvements become visible over the following months– as collagen levels gradually increase. Most patients see full results within 6 months of their initial Sculptra facelift.

Sculptra Liquid Facelift

Sculptra for face lifting generally takes 30-45 minutes, depending on the areas of skin being injected and the desired outcome.

The induction of collagen production delivers outstanding results for:

  • Adding contours to a sagging jawline
  • Addressing concave temples
  • Volumizing hollows in the tear troughs
  • Lifting and enhancing the cheeks
  • Correcting marionette lines and deep folds
  • Smoothing fine wrinkles
  • Improving skin texture

How Long Does a Liquid Facelift Last?

Sculptra really shines in longevity. A sculptra liquid facelift can last more than two years, which is considerably longer than most hyaluronic acid-based fillers.

Since it activates collagen production over time, this injectable adds youthful volume in a subtle way and doesn’t look overdone. Patients can expect natural, beautiful, and long-lasting results.

Complementary Rejuvenating Treatments

Sculptra may be combined with other minimally invasive rejuvenating treatments, such as Botox injections or RF microneedling to deliver maximum improvements without the risks or expense of a surgical facelift.

How Can I Make My Fillers Last Longer?

Dermal fillers like Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, and Sculptra are among the most popular anti-aging treatments today. They smooth creases and restore volume for a fresh, rested appearance. By plumping the skin with hydrating or collagen-boosting molecules, fillers can correct smile lines, deep nasolabial folds, under-eye troughs, or provide a natural– yet sultry– looking pout. While the results of cosmetic injectables are virtually immediate, they don’t last forever.

Many factors affect the longevity of your dermal filler treatment. Some products are designed to last longer than others, and your metabolism will also have an impact. Even the location of the filler will make a difference– areas with more muscle movement will break down the product faster.

For example, Voluma® XC is designed to lift the cheeks for up to two full years, while lip filler with Restylane will last around six months. Contact us at Dallas Dermatology Partners if you have any questions or concerns.

Filler Maintenance Tips

As a trusted provider of dermal fillers in Dallas, we offer the following tips on maximizing the longevity of your results.

#1 Schedule Touch-Up Appointments in Advance

The best way to increase the lifespan of your filler results is by booking maintenance appointments in advance before the filler wears off completely. Your dermatologist will recommend an appropriate timeline based on the location, amount, and type of filler used and suggest touch-ups accordingly. It’s much more cost-effective than starting from scratch, and regularly scheduled injections will ensure the rejuvenating effect you love– isn’t lost entirely.

#2 Avoid Prolonged Sun Exposure

It’s no secret that UV radiation is detrimental to skin elasticity and appearance, causing wrinkles, age spots, and rough texture. The sun’s rays can also speed up the breakdown of facial filler molecules. So, if you’re going to be outside, slather the skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen, and wear a wide-brimmed hat.

#3 Adopt a Good Skincare Regime

Glowing, hydrated skin radiates good health and youthfulness. After your filler injections, ask your dermatologist for medical-grade skincare products that are suitable for your age, skin type, and concerns. Products containing retinoids, glycolic acid, and other potent actives work in tandem with fillers for a rejuvenating effect.

#4 Find Ways to Reduce Stress

Stress is often unavoidable but try and find ways to avoid usual triggers that tell your body to produce cortisol– a stress hormone that accelerates signs of aging. Whether it’s HIIT, yoga, or a weekly massage, stress-relieving techniques will relax your mind, soften your expressions, and may extend the life of fillers.

#5 Drink More Water

If you have a hyaluronic acid-based filler like those in the Juvederm or Restylane family, then drink up. Hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules, so it stands to reason that hydrated skin can enhance the effect of HA fillers. You can also ramp up water intake by incorporating more fruits and vegetables like watermelon and leafy greens into your diet.

Guide to Injectable Dermal Fillers

Volume loss in facial tissue is a normal part of the aging process. Decreased levels of collagen cause skin laxity and sagging. As underlying tissues thin out, wrinkles, creases, and hollows become more noticeable.

In the context of non-surgical facial rejuvenation, dermal fillers have become the gold standard treatment for smoothing lines, restoring fullness, and improving contours. These gel-like injectables are incredibly versatile and can be used to correct asymmetry, fill in scars, sculpt jawlines, and plump up areas that have lost fat and volume.

There are several FDA-approved cosmetic fillers used here at our Dallas dermatology office. Each varies in terms of fullness and consistency, and some products even stimulate collagen growth for long-term improvements.

Facial fillers have become increasingly specialized, providing more ways to fine-tune treatments according to patient goals.

What are dermal fillers made of?

All cosmetic fillers restore volume and fill in sunken areas, but they can vary in their formulation and method of action. Let’s take a look at the active ingredients in today’s dermal fillers.

Hyaluronic acid fillers

Dermal fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA) can create nuanced results. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that naturally occurs in the body. It attracts water and keeps the skin hydrated. HA-based fillers typically last between 6 and 12 months and are utilized to minimize lines and wrinkles, plump up facial folds, and bring structure and support. This type of filler is often used to enhance lip size, correct nasolabial folds and under-eye hollows, and re-volumize sunken cheeks.

Hyaluronic acid fillers include the following products:

Restylane products:

  • Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse, Restylane Contour

Juvéderm products:

  • Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE

Calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) fillers

Calcium hydroxylapatite is another naturally-occurring compound that is primarily found in our bones. The tiny calcium particles integrate into the skin and create a scaffolding effect whilst also triggering the production of collagen. Calcium hydroxylapatite fillers are thicker and generally used to correct deeper creases and folds. Radiesse is the only approved filler in this category.

Injections can produce dramatic results for softening chin wrinkles, marionette lines, pre-jowl folds, and smile lines. The FDA also approved Radiesse for hand rejuvenation, as it improves the look of boney and veiny hands.

Poly-L-lactic acid fillers

Poly-L-lactic acid is a known collagen stimulator. While the substance is not produced by our bodies, it is biocompatible and has been safely used for years in medical devices. Sculptra Aesthetic is the only FDA-approved filler comprised of poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra injections can replenish volume loss in deeper facial folds, and the results can last up to two years. The final results are gradual, since it takes weeks for the body to produce new collagen.

Sculptra is a great rejuvenating option even as a one-off treatment, thanks to its mechanism of action.

Does Sculptra Improve Skin Texture?

Sculptra has many anti-aging benefits, but can this injectable improve skin texture too? The answer is an unequivocal yes! A few key injections of this dermal filler can provide measurable results in terms of skin smoothness.

Sculptra triggers collagen production

How does this poly-L-Lactic acid-based injectable improve skin texture? By activating the skin’s natural collagen production. Collagen is a protein that provides the skin’s structural framework. Think of it as scaffolding that keeps laxity and sagging at bay.

A healthy level of collagen keeps the skin plump and elastic, associated with a more youthful appearance. By triggering collagen synthesis, a Sculptra treatment indirectly improves textural irregularities since the volumizing effects are emphasized on the surface of the skin. In addition, the filler diminishes roughness by plumping up underlying tissues that essentially stretch out the epidermis.

Collagen loss ramps up rapidly with age. With each passing year, the skin has less underlying support to counteract the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and time. Sculptra not only restores the skin’s building blocks but also replenishes lost volume, helping to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles for a more even and radiant complexion.

Sculptra Injections – Before & After

Long-lasting improvements

Because Sculptra gradually rebuilds the skin’s underlying infrastructure, this injectable treatment offers long-lasting results compared to other popular fillers. You can expect to maintain your “Sculptra Glow” for at least two years–sometimes longer. It won’t happen overnight but will gradually appear over the coming weeks and months. Once you have achieved your desired cosmetic goals, we recommend Sculptra injections every 1 to 2 years to maintain results and healthy collagen levels.

A versatile dermal filler

Dermatologists use Sculptra to reverse signs of aging, improve skin texture, and rejuvenate sun-damaged and wrinkled skin. This versatile injectable is also used to lift the buttocks without surgery or downtime. Targeted injections enhance the shape and size of your derriere and promise natural-looking results.

Sculptra jump-starts collagen development and improves the common complaints associated with mature skin. For example, it can contour a sagging jawline, minimize the appearance of creases and folds, and lift loose skin around the upper knees and arms.

Whether you’re interested in a non-surgical facelift with Sculptra or simply want a low-maintenance treatment for improving texture, you can arrange a Dallas dermatology appointment to explore your options.

Does Sculptra Help Crepey Skin?

Yes, Sculptra is great at helping to improve thin and delicate skin, returning it to its youthful, radiant glow. As a non-surgical treatment, Sculptra dermal fillers work to stimulate collagen production in your body and are great for addressing a range of concerns, from volume loss in the face to crepey skin on the chest and hands.

When you book a Dallas dermatology appointment, our experienced professionals will assess your unique skin concerns and offer personalized solutions that will have you saying goodbye to crepey skin and hello to a revitalized, radiant appearance.

What is crepey skin?

Before diving into the transformative effects of Sculptra, it’s essential to understand what causes crepey skin. Crepey skin is characterized as skin that has fine wrinkles, and a thin, delicate texture that resembles the look of crepe paper. For many people, this can commonly occur due to a decrease in collagen and elastin production as you age — but it can also be caused by sun damage, significant weight loss, lack of hydration, and even changes in your hormones.

How can Sculptra help my skin?

If you have experienced a decrease in collagen, Sculptra is an incredible option to consider. The secret behind Sculptra’s effectiveness is its key ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid, which targets your body’s natural ability to stimulate collagen production over time. This non-invasive, injectable dermal filler encourages the formation of new collagen fibers, helping to improve skin thickness, elasticity, and overall quality.

Sculptra Filler to Face – Before & After

Where can I use Sculptra?

Crepey skin can appear in various areas of the body but is more commonly found in areas where the skin is thinner and exposed to sun or environmental conditions, including the face, neck, chest, knees, and décolleté.

As an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler, our experts often recommend Sculptra to help address volume loss and improve skin texture all over the body, helping to boost your overall confidence and satisfaction with your appearance.

Although Dr. Dickson has described the “Sculptra glow” for years in her patients, Sculptra recently received an official FDA indication for this.

When can I expect to see results?

Because of its unique approach to collagen production, you will begin to see a subtle transformation and gradual improvement of skin quality over several weeks. Many of our patients also choose Sculptra because of its long-lasting benefits. Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra can last up to two years and require fewer maintenance sessions and touch-ups, making it one of our most sought-after injectables in Dallas. Plus, with minimal downtime for recovery, you can get back to a regular routine within a few hours of treatment.

“I typically notice results in my patients within 1-2 months after their first treatment, with the first changes noticed in improvement in their skin texture and a subtle volume enhancement,” says Dr. Dickson.

Does Eye Filler Get Rid of Bags?

Tear trough fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm can replace volume loss in the tear trough hollows. These cosmetic injections re-volumize the under-eye area for a more youthful, refreshed look. The thin skin around the eyes loses fat as part of the natural aging process. This can cause puffy bags and indented shadows that look like dark circles. Under-eye fillers smooth out this fragile area, helping to create a more rested look.  However, fillers do not correct eye puffiness that results from fat herniation, edema from allergies, or severe skin laxity.  A surgical blepharoplasty is the preferred procedure of choice in these cases. Your doctor will access your tear trough and recommend the best treatment suited for you.

How Do Facial Fillers Work?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is the best filler for eye bags and hollows because it’s a biocompatible material that our bodies produce naturally. Products like Restylane and Juvederm are popular HA-based facial fillers. They have a smaller molecular structure that is easily manipulated for natural-looking improvements. However, while dermal filler can improve the look of mild to moderate under-eye bags and puffiness, it cannot correct large, fluid-filled bags or dark circles caused by pigmentation.

Conservative Injections For Optimal Results

A conservative approach is always recommended when injecting filler around the eyes. Too much filler will create an unnatural look. While the area is visibly plumped after the first injection, we advise a follow-up appointment in 10-14 days. In this way, we can do touch-ups where needed to achieve optimal results.

restylane under eye filler to tear troughs by dr. dickson
Restylane Under Eye Filler to Tear Troughs by Dr. Dickson

What Happens During The Procedure?

A topical numbing agent is applied and left to sit on the skin for 30 minutes. Once the skin is numbed, the hyaluronic acid filler is injected with a cannula or small needle. It is perfectly normal to feel some pressure as the filler is injected. Juvederm and Restylane contain lidocaine which numbs and constricts blood vessels. After the injection, a light massage over the skin helps to settle and smooth the gel-like filler.

Under-Eye Filler Can Last More Than A Year

Under-eye filler generally lasts nine months to a year and sometimes longer. Because the under-eye area has less movement than the mouth or the cheeks, it usually lasts longer. Everyone metabolizes hyaluronic acid at different rates so the duration can vary from patient to patient. During your Dallas dermatology appointment, your doctor will recommend a timeline for follow-up treatments to maintain results.

restylane eye filler

Restylane to Tear Troughs by Dr. Dickson

When Will I See The Results?

You will start to see improvements in texture and volume right away, with continued improvements over the following two weeks as the filler begins to settle. In addition, shadows caused by slight indentations are minimized, producing a brighter under-eye area.

There Is No Downtime Involved

There is no need to take time off work after getting under eye filler. While mild swelling and bruising may occur, these side effects resolve within a few days. Cold compresses can help with inflammation.

Freshen Up Your Look Without Surgery

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, our board-certified dermatologists have extensive knowledge of facial anatomy. We believe subtle improvements yield a more natural result, and we always take a conservative approach when doing facial filler treatments. Say goodbye to under-eye bags that can make you look tired and older than your actual years. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
