How Does Fat Leave the Body After EmSculpt Neo?

How Does Fat Leave the Body After EmSculpt Neo?

Once the EmSculpt Neo fat reduction treatment induces the death of fat cells, these fat cells are then ingested by immune cells and removed from the body through natural processes. It is an effective way to reduce fat in areas such as the stomach, hips, and thighs.

In addition, the body does not produce new fat cells. Once the treated fat cells are destroyed and eliminated from the body, they cannot come back. However, the fat cells that still remain can grow larger due to dietary imbalances. This is why it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle after you undergo a fat removal treatment.

A quick look at fat cells

Fat cells, or adipose tissue, first begin to accumulate during the latter stages of fetal development. After birth, the number of fat cells remains stable until puberty, at which time people begin to form additional fat cells.

Following puberty, the body stops producing new fat cells. With dietary imbalances, the existing fat cells can expand, which leads to additional fat accumulation. When a person begins burning more calories than they consume, the fat stored within the cells is used and begins to decrease.

It is a common misconception that doing targeted exercises, such as crunches and sit-ups, will burn fat in the targeted areas. Although the exercises will indeed boost muscle growth, they cannot spot-reduce fat accumulation. However, EmSculpt Neo can do both.

Here is how it works.

How EmSculpt Neo destroys fat cells

EmSculpt Neo works in two ways. First, it uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) pulses to induce contractions within the muscles.

These contractions change the structure of the muscles, causing them to become stronger, tighter, and more toned. It’s as if you did thousands of sit-ups or squats. In this way, EmSculpt Neo can create a toned silhouette more effectively than mere exercise alone can.

Second, EmSculpt Neo applies radiofrequency (RF) energy to the treatment area. The RF energy targets the fat cells and heats them to up to 44 degrees Celsius while leaving non-fat cells alone. The heat destroys the fat cells, enabling them to be naturally processed and eliminated by the body—for good.

How destroyed fat cells are naturally eliminated from the body

So, how exactly are destroyed fat cells eliminated from the body? Well, first, as the fat cells absorb the heat from the RF energy, they undergo apoptosis, which is a type of cell death. The body is quite effective at removing any type of dead cells. It has to be, since dead cells that are not cleared away can lead to inflammation. These cells are cleared from the body by phagocytes.

Phagocytes are immune cells that are responsible for, among other tasks, circulating throughout the body’s tissues in search of foreign invaders and dead cells. Apoptotic cells display so-called “find me” signals, enabling phagocytes to find and identify them as unwanted cellular debris. When they find cellular debris (or microbes), the phagocytes engulf these unwanted materials.

The phagocytes undergo cytoskeleton rearrangement in order to internalize the dead fat cells. They then ingest the “meal” using enzymes, causing the degradation of the dead fat cells and enabling them to be removed from the body.

What exactly does all of this scientific information mean for your aesthetic goals? Quite simply, it means that EmSculpt Neo is highly effective at destroying unwanted fat cells. Unlike many other fat reduction treatments, however, EmSculpt Neo simultaneously tones muscles in the treated area.

Moxi Laser vs. Halo Laser – Which is Right for You?

Non-invasive laser rejuvenation is a specialty at Dallas Dermatology Partners, where our focus is innovative skincare. Many of today’s laser devices are suitable for all skin types and address a variety of cosmetic concerns. Whether you’re trying to correct years of sun damage or “prejuvenate” before deep wrinkles set in, Moxi and Halo laser treatments are excellent options.

Both Halo and Moxi treatments can be customized according to patient concerns, but there are some key differences between these two laser technologies.

Moxi vs. Halo Lasers

Moxi is a fractionated, non-ablative laser that delivers targeted laser energy below the skin’s surface to stimulate the body’s innate healing process. It is considered a “low-level” laser and is approved for use in patients with darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick Scale IV-VI).

Halo is a hybrid laser that uses ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to penetrate deeper into the dermis. This is a stronger treatment that creates micro-wounds while triggering collagen production. A Halo laser treatment is more aggressive, making it a smart choice for those with more extensive UV damage.

Moxi Laser – Minimal Downtime

If you are hoping for tonal and textural improvements with nominal downtime, then a Moxi laser treatment may be a great option.

Our patients realize impressive results when addressing the following:

  • Uneven skin tone
  • Dull skin
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sun damage
  • Large pores
  • Rough texture
  • Melasma

This non-ablative treatment is a wonderful option for busy patients looking to refresh their appearance without an extensive recovery period. Our patients return to their normal routines within 3-4 days after a Moxi laser session.

Halo Laser – Deeper Correction

The dual-wavelength Halo laser corrects deeper wrinkles, skin discoloration, textural problems, and enlarged pores. In addition to treating visible signs of aging, Halo can also improve the appearance of scars. The results of this hybrid laser are dramatic, but patients should expect a longer period of downtime. Most patients are fully healed within seven days of their Halo laser treatment.

How to Choose the Right Laser Treatment

Moxi and Halo lasers are safe for use on the face, neck, and chest. Both technologies are highly effective and well-tolerated by patients with no anesthesia.

Here are the key differences between the two treatments:

  • Moxi is a good choice for treating more superficial concerns or maintaining a youthful glow while preventing future UV damage.
  • If you want to tackle decades of sun damage or stubborn changes in pigmentation, the Halo may be a more suitable option. The major caveat with this rejuvenating laser is the longer stretch of downtime.

Moxi and Halo lasers work wonders independently but can also be combined with BBL treatments to optimize results.

Sculptra for an Aging Chest & Décolletage

If you’re bothered by crepey, wrinkled skin on the décolleté— your lower neckline— a series of Sculptra filler treatments can be an effective, non-invasive solution. This dermal filler is renowned for providing dramatic improvements in both skin quality and volume restoration, and it’s a favorite cosmetic treatment here at Dallas Dermatology Partners.

Though often on display, the skin on the décolletage is regularly overlooked in our daily beauty routines. Fine lines and deep wrinkles can develop quickly on this area of thin, delicate skin as the effects of time and gravity take their toll. Creases and lines on the upper chest are fairly common among women, especially those who are habitual side sleepers.

Let’s discuss other common contributors to causing chest wrinkles and what you can do to rejuvenate and restore your skin.

What Factors Cause Chest Wrinkles?

The two vital proteins that keep the skin supple, elastic, and smooth – collagen and elastin – gradually diminish with the natural aging process. This loss of internal structural support is compounded by UV exposure that further triggers collagen breakdown.

These are the common factors that can cause premature wrinkles and creases on the chest and cleavage:

  • Dehydration – a chronic lack of moisture (both internally and externally) is a major culprit. Be sure to stay hydrated and apply an antioxidant-rich moisturizer to your chest and neck 2X daily.
  • UV damage – A broad spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen can help ward off free radical damage caused by repeated sun exposure.
  • Sleeping position – women with larger busts who sleep on their sides are more prone to developing visible lines and creases on their chest.
  • Ill-fitting bras or shapewear – an unsupportive or badly fitting bra that pushes your cleavage too tightly can create wrinkles over time.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) – a sugar molecule that stimulates collagen production. This biodegradable filler is a superior choice for chest rejuvenation, as it replenishes volume while restoring the skin’s structural framework.  The injections strengthen the underlying foundation of the skin, and once the revitalizing effects take hold – they can last for up to 24 months.

For best results, most patients will benefit from a series of 2 or 3 Sculptra treatments spaced one month apart. Since collagen synthesis takes time, the final results won’t be evident for at least six months.

Benefits of Sculptra for Skin Rejuvenation

There are several benefits to choosing Sculptra for chest and décolletage rejuvenation, including:

  • Non-invasive procedure with no downtime
  • Restores the body’s own collagen
  • Wrinkles and fine lines are greatly diminished
  • Replenishes lost volume and structural support
  • Helps to prevent future wrinkles
  • Beautiful results that can last up to 2 years

Can You Combine Moxi and Genius Microneedling?

Often, dermatology patients want to know if one treatment could help them achieve all their skincare goals. However, combining multiple types of treatments, such as Moxi and Genius RF Microneedling, can be beneficial because, together, they can correct a wide range of issues. Together, they are even more effective at rejuvenating and transforming the skin. To find out if Moxi and Genius Microneedling could work for you, contact Dallas Dermatology Partners to consult with an experienced clinician.

What is Moxi and what can it treat?

The Moxi laser treatment uses a controlled, fractional laser to rejuvenate the skin. This non-ablative laser can address many common signs of aging and create a more youthful-looking complexion. It’s also safe for all skin types and can be used as an anti-aging or a “prejuvenation” treatment (performed before the signs of aging are easily discernible).

The Moxi laser can address the following skin issues:

  • Dull or uneven skin tone
  • Mild scars, including acne scars
  • Melasma
  • Mild sun damage
  • Poor skin texture, including large pores
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

In addition, Moxi requires minimal downtime.

What is Genius Microneedling and what benefits does it offer?

Genius RF Microneedling is an effective anti-aging treatment. It uses needles to create micro-damage to the skin, which stimulates collagen and elastin production. In addition, it takes an innovative approach to the traditional microneedling treatment by introducing radiofrequency energy.

This treatment offers the following benefits:

  • Minimize hyperpigmentation
  • Reduction in the appearance of stretch marks
  • Smoother, younger-looking skin
  • Fine line and wrinkle reduction
  • Skin tightening and firming
  • Improvement in the appearance of acne scars
  • Minimized appearance of pores
  • Improvement of skin tone and texture

Like Moxi laser treatment, this treatment also offers minimal downtime.

Maximize your skincare results by combining treatments

Moxi laser treatment and Genius RF Microneedling can achieve remarkable results. Combined, they offer more comprehensive benefits because they target different layers of the skin. The Moxi laser targets the uppermost layers—the epidermis and the topmost part of the dermis. In contrast, Genius RF Microneedling works deeper within the skin—far into the dermis—offering effective contouring and tightening.

When these two treatments are combined, patients can look forward to comprehensive skin rejuvenation. Moxi and Genius can address a range of problems, from reduced collagen and poor skin texture and laxity to wrinkles and sun damage.

Can EmSculpt Neo Make Your Waist Smaller?

EmSculpt Neo is highly effective at inducing fat loss and stimulating muscle development around the waist. Although individual results vary, some may lose an inch or more from around their waist. EmSculpt Neo is a new and exciting FDA-approved treatment. It may be ideal if you’re interested in non-invasive body contouring at Dallas Dermatology Partners without significant downtime.

What is EmSculpt Neo and how does it work?

If you have areas of stubborn fat around your hips and stomach, you might have considered liposuction. It is highly effective at removing fat in targeted areas; however, it is a surgical procedure that requires major downtime. In contrast, EmSculpt Neo is a nonsurgical lipolysis procedure that produces enviable body contouring results.

It directs high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy at the treatment areas. While many body contouring treatments remove fat cells, HIFEM energy works by triggering rapid contractions of the muscles in the targeted areas. At the same time, EmSculpt Neo delivers targeted radiofrequency (RF) energy, which gently heats the area to induce fat cell death. Note that the original form of the technology, EmSculpt, used only electromagnetic energy. The newer incarnation, EmSculpt Neo, uses both EM and RF energy.

What is possible with this body contouring treatment?

EmSculpt Neo offers incredible results. This body contouring treatment provides the following benefits:

  • Core Strengthening – Want toned abs without having to do crunches? EmSculpt Neo could be right for you. You’ll enjoy more toned, stronger muscles. In addition, a stronger core provides better support to the back, which is important for individuals with back pain.
  • Fat Reduction – Once the fat cells die off and are naturally eliminated by the body, they’re gone for good. Your body cannot grow more fat cells. However, existing fat cells do have the potential to grow larger, so you’ll need to maintain your results with a healthy lifestyle.
  • Inch Loss – Along with melting fat in the targeted areas, you’ll love that the treated areas become noticeably slimmer. Patients may lose an inch or more, although individual results will vary.

Who is a good candidate for EmSculpt Neo?

EmSculpt Neo is effective at helping individuals lose fat and inches from their waist, stomach, and love handles. However, like liposuction, it’s not intended to be a primary weight loss method. Instead, its purpose is to shrink, tighten, and tone the problem areas that do not respond well to a healthy lifestyle. Talk to a dermatologist to find out if you could be a good candidate for EmSculpt Neo.

Schedule your consultation for non-invasive body contouring

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, our skilled clinicians use innovative, cutting-edge treatments like EmSculpt Neo to help our patients achieve remarkable results and boost self-confidence. Contact us today to request your appointment and find out if EmSculpt Neo could be right for you. Our practice also offers a range of other body contouring treatments, such as Kybella for a double chin and QWO cellulite treatment.

Neck & Chest Rejuvenation with BBL Laser

When it comes to non-invasive skin rejuvenation, the BBL Laser is a patient favorite at Dallas Dermatology Partners. Broadband light therapy stimulates cellular activity within the dermis, improving the tone, texture, and clarity of treatment areas. With time, sun exposure, and environmental stressors, the skin on the neck and chest is susceptible to hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and vascular lesions. BBL treatment is the fastest way to correct visible signs of aging and sun damage in this delicate, often overlooked area.

How Does BBL Laser Therapy Work?

BBL Hero (high energy, rapid output) does more than address visible imperfections on the epidermis. It penetrates the deeper layers, stimulating cellular repair and collagen growth for more youthful and even-toned skin.

Developed by Sciton, this innovative laser targets a variety of skin concerns on the neck and chest with 4x the speed and 3x the peak power of traditional BBL sessions. Each BBL Hero treatment employs a multi-pass protocol to trigger anti-aging benefits on a cellular level with much shorter treatment times.

BBL Hero also has twice the cooling effect, ensuring optimal comfort. Adjustable energy wavelengths allow our dermatologists to customize each procedure according to skin tone and specific conditions.

Revitalize the Neck and Chest with Broad Band Light Therapy

The skin on the neck and chest usually exhibits signs of aging and photodamage. The skin becomes looser, less elastic, and more prone to wrinkling as collagen breaks down. If you are bothered by fine lines, redness, and dark spots on the décolleté, you may be an excellent candidate for BBL laser therapy.

The laser is designed to treat large areas of skin at one time, addressing several concerns with each pass of the handpiece. Our patients see noticeable improvements in the appearance of:

  • Brown spots
  • Freckles
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Redness/erythema
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scarring
  • Loose and tired-looking skin
  • Rough texture

Advantages of BBL Hero Laser

Neck and chest rejuvenation with BBL Laser slows the aging process while providing stunning results. A series of three or four treatments will leave the skin radiant, healthy, and free of unwanted pigmentation. Attain your cosmetic goals without pain or downtime. Consider these benefits of broadband light therapy:

  • Non-invasive procedure
  • Quick, comfortable treatment with no anesthesia
  • Targets multiple skin concerns
  • Stimulates cellular repair
  • Reverses signs of aging
  • Improves firmness, clarity, and texture
  • Results are seen within 2-3 weeks
  • Safe for many skin types

Book Your BBL Hero appointment in Dallas

BBL laser is ideal for patients who want to address aging skin on their neck and chest without surgery or significant time commitments. This revolutionary therapy triggers the body’s own healing process, giving patients smoother and more even skin. Schedule a Dallas Dermatology appointment to discuss your goals.

What Is the Arctic Peel?

The Arctic Peel is a micro laser peel, known as the Nano Laser Peel or the “Weekend Peel” because it only requires two days of downtime. It is a five-minute treatment that doesn’t require numbing and is perfect for those not ready to start with a laser treatment. It is very gentle on the skin, yet it can produce significant results. If you’re concerned about the signs of aging, the Arctic Peel might be a good choice for you. Request a consult with Dallas Dermatology Partners to learn if you could be a good candidate.

How does the Arctic Peel work?

The skin has many layers, and removing a few of the outermost layers reveals the vibrant, new skin underneath. The Arctic Peel works by resurfacing the skin to remove those topmost layers. It minimizes the appearance or, in some cases, eliminates various skin imperfections, from fine lines to areas of hyperpigmentation. If you’re familiar with the Sciton MicroLaser Peel, you’ll be pleased to know that the Arctic Peel is like the MicroLaser Peel—except that it has less downtime.

What to expect from a treatment session

You will first receive a topical anesthetic. Then, the clinician will use a specialized laser to deliver intense energy into the skin. It resurfaces the skin but also stimulates the production of collagen. The increased production of collagen will enhance your facial rejuvenation results. It’s important to note that you may need more than one treatment session to get the results you desire. Many patients have two to four treatment sessions spaced up to four weeks apart. However, every patient has unique needs and skincare goals. During your consultation, you’ll receive personalized recommendations regarding your treatment schedule.

Facial rejuvenation with the Arctic Peel

One of the reasons why the Arctic Peel has become so popular is that it’s a gentle treatment, yet it offers the potential for incredible results. One Arctic Peel treatment can produce comparable results to three to five microdermabrasion treatments. Receiving a series of laser resurfacing treatments will provide a cumulative effect that can minimize or completely erase fine lines and wrinkles. In addition to wrinkles, the Arctic Peel can treat dark spots and acne scars.

What is the minimal recovery time?

Along with its dramatic results, the Arctic Peel is a popular skin rejuvenation treatment because it offers minimal downtime. You may experience skin tightness, redness, and swelling for up to eight hours following your treatment. Patients often say that it feels similar to mild sunburn. Avoid sun exposure, and use a gentle cleanser and a rich moisturizer. After a few days, the topmost layers of skin will begin to shed.

Although the Arctic Peel only requires eight hours of downtime, the total recovery time for your skin will be one to three days.

The talented clinicians at Dallas Dermatology Partners have over 65 years of combined experience. We can help you find the skincare solution that’s right for you, whether it’s the Arctic Peel or another type of laser resurfacing treatment. Is Sculptra Better Than Filler?

Sculptra isn’t better than fillers, but it does produce different results than other injectables. It may be best for you if you’re interested in long-term anti-aging benefits. However, the right cosmetic treatment for you will depend on your unique skincare needs and goals. Speak with a clinician at Dallas Dermatology Partners about your skincare issues to determine if a Sculptra treatment or a different injectable might suit your needs. Sometimes, a dermatologist may recommend using Sculptra and another injectable to produce optimal results.

Sculptra vs. fillers: Comparing your treatment options

Sculptra is a type of dermal filler; however, it’s considered a separate category. Most dermal fillers, like Juvederm and Restylane, are comprised of hyaluronic acid, which naturally occurs throughout the body. When you lose volume due to aging, your skin begins to sag and develops a sunken appearance. You also start to develop fine lines and wrinkles. A dermatologist can inject a hyaluronic acid dermal filler into those areas to temporarily restore lost volume and plump up the areas affected by wrinkles.

Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid in powder form which is then reconstituted with water, which dermatologists can inject into key areas. It acts as a collagen stimulator, triggering extra collagen production to provide greater structure, volume, and support. Since it is growing the patient’s own collagen, the final result can take up to nine months to be visible.  However, improvement in skin texture can be seen as early as one month post-treatment.

Sculptra is an excellent maintenance treatment for anti-aging and is ideally combined with hyaluronic acid fillers to address areas of concern.

Which dermal filler is right for you?

Whether your dermatologist will recommend Sculptra or a hyaluronic acid dermal filler depends on your skin issues and goals. If you’re interested in getting rapid results which will be relatively short-term, then hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can be the right choice for you. On the other hand, if you’re interested in long-term results, Sculptra may be best.

When is it a good idea to use both types of cosmetic treatments?

It’s possible and often recommended to combine multiple types of injectables to produce the best results. Your dermatologist will evaluate your skin, consider your age and medical history, and discuss your goals for your appearance to determine if using both types of injectables is the right choice for you.

Since hyaluronic acid dermal fillers work produce immediate results, they can be the right choice if you desire a quick transformation. However, if you’re also interested in long-term anti-aging improvement, Sculptra can be used with another filler. The results last longer since it grows your own collagen.

Your age and amount of volume loss is another consideration. If you’re younger (e.g., in your 20s), you may want hyaluronic acid to enhance certain features such as the lips or cheeks and may decide on Sculptra for the long-term age-fighting benefits. However, if you’re in your 40s, 50s, or beyond, you may want a dermal filler like Juvederm or Restylane–for the more immediate correction of volume loss, along with Sculptra for long-term benefits.

Speak with a dermatologist to discover your ideal treatment

The innovative clinicians at Dallas Dermatology Partners use the latest treatments and cutting-edge technology to produce extraordinary results for our patients. We’ll take the time to thoroughly assess which cosmetic treatments are best suited to your needs. What Is Non-Surgical Lipolysis and How Does It Work?

Lipolysis has become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures over the past few years—and for good reason. As a safe, effective, and non-invasive option, non-surgical lipolysis utilizes radiofrequency heating to permanently remove fat and tighten skin with minimal downtime.

From diet- and exercise-resistant fat to pregnancy “pooches,” localized fat can feel impossible to get rid of. At Dallas Dermatology Partners, it’s our goal to provide exceptional care for all of our patients through personalized cosmetic treatments.

Here’s everything you need to know to decide if non-surgical lipolysis is right for you.

What Is Non-surgical Lipolysis?

Non-surgical lipolysis, also known as non-surgical fat reduction treatment, is a type of cosmetic procedure. It uses radiofrequency energy to transform the shape and appearance of your body by targeting smaller fat deposits. Because it’s a non-surgical treatment, lipolysis can be performed by EmSculpt NEO in your doctor’s office and comes with minimal downtime.

Overall, lipolysis is a safe, non-invasive treatment that removes 30% of fat and builds 25% of muscle. In most cases, it takes between four and six treatments to achieve the full results, and maintenance treatments are needed.

How Does EmSculpt NEO Work?

While other kinds of fat reduction treatments involve invasive surgery, EmSculpt NEO uses HF and HIFEM+ energies to break fat cells apart, which reduces the volume of fatty tissue.

Using radiofrequency heating, the muscle temperature of the treated area quickly increases. In turn, non-surgical lipolysis helps prepare muscles for exposure to stress, similar to a warm-up exercise before a workout. The temperature in fat tissue quickly reaches levels that cause apoptosis, which damages fat cells and promotes their permanent removal from the body.

This procedure can also help tighten the skin in the area where the treatment is applied, leaving patients with smoother and tighter skin. In other words, EmSculpt NEO offers two body sculpting treatments in one so you can combat fat and build muscle with a simple procedure.

How to Prepare for Lipolysis

During your initial consultation, ensure your doctor is aware of any pre-existing health conditions or prescription medications that you take.

Your doctor will provide you with instructions before your Dallas dermatology appointment to help you prepare for your procedure. Depending on your situation, your doctor may advise you to stop taking blood thinners and anti-inflammatory drugs before your procedure, as these medications may interfere with the healing process. It’s also important to avoid any activity that might irritate the area that will be treated, including tanning and shaving.

After your lipolysis procedure is finished, your doctor will provide detailed instructions to help expedite the recovery process. Follow these instructions and watch the procedure site closely to make sure your skin heals properly.

Schedule Your Lipolysis Consultation in Dallas

At Dallas Dermatology Partners, we strongly believe that patient care comes first, and your experience is our top priority. Contact us today to schedule a lipolysis consultation and discover whether non-surgical fat reduction is right for you.
