How does SKINVIVE™ work?

Rather than changing the shape of your face, like regular fillers, SKINVIVE™ is an injectable dermal filler that changes the appearance of your skin. It leverages hyaluronic acid to increase hydration in your skin and improve uneven texture. SKINVIVE™ is injected superficially into the outer layer of your skin, also known as your epidermis, which then diffuses into an even layer.

Clinical trials have shown improvements in cheek skin that lasted for six months, and researchers have even seen an increase in aquaporin, a water channel protein found in the skin that demonstrates skin hydration. SKINVIVE™ injections also stimulate collagen production, improving skin elasticity while reducing the appearance of fine lines.

What do results look like?

How long before I can see results?

You may see some plumping and extra bounce in your skin a few hours or days after, but full results won’t set in until a few weeks. SKINVIVE™ results are found in your skin quality, not volume or size, so the results may be more subtle.

Where can SKINVIVE™ be injected other than your face? As of right now, the FDA has indicated use for your cheeks on your face, but expected use may also extend to the neck, chest, and back of hands.

How long do results last?

How long is recovery, and are there any side effects?

Recovery is minimal, and there is little to no downtime for SKINVIVE™ treatments. Many patients can resume their daily activities immediately after treatment. As with all injectables, avoiding the sun, heavy exercise, and makeup for at least 24 hours is recommended. After treatment, applying ice packs to the treated area for 5-10 minutes twice a day for 3-5 days is recommended for optimal healing.

The side effects and risks that come with SKINVIVE™ are mild and temporary. Redness or tenderness may appear at the injection site, and patients may experience mild swelling for 2-3 days, if at all.
